Our Children's Book Subscription Box

We are Kate and Libby – best friends, total book geeks and the founders of Children’s Book Subscription Box, Tales by Mail.

We both fell in love with reading at a young age. Our love of books has allowed us to explore new worlds, sparked our imaginations, widened our vocabulary and introduced us to characters we would never meet in real life. Through Tales by Mail, our mission is to instil the same sense of curiosity and wonder about books into the next generation of book-lovers.

We are former booksellers (with over 15 years working in bookshops) and also own another successful book subscription service for young adults, so we’ve got tonnes of book knowledge and subscription box curating experience! This makes us the perfect team to create an exciting children’s book box club, especially for your young readers.

A Short History of Tales by Mail

When we were reading books for our young adult book subscription box, Book Box Club, we noticed that there were so many BRILLIANT books for children aged 5-12. We felt it was our job to get these new titles into the hands of budding bookworms.

And so we decided to start Tales by Mail – a new box especially for younger readers, a subscription box that was educational, inspiring, but most importantly great fun! The first Tales by Mail boxes were sent out in June 2021 and the theme was Mansion House Mysteries. Since then, we’ve welcomed thousands of members from all around the globe to our children’s book box club.

In January 2021, the wonderful Amber joined our team. Amber takes care of lots of very important behind the scenes stuff as well as helping members with their enquiries.

In May 2021, we were awarded a silver gong in the MadeforMums Awards!

Then in September 2021, we launched Tales by Mail Hatchlings – a new subscription box for readers aged 5-8.
